How To: Creepy Marionette Doll Makeup

Nothing says Halloween quite like the classic creepy marionette doll. This super quick and easy makeup tutorial will walk you through how to achieve the perfect last minute Halloween costume.

Marionette doll makeup

1.) Start with your base makeup. Marionette dolls have a flawless complexion, so now is the time to wear a high coverage foundation if you have one. Add some concealer underneath your eyes and conceal any blemishes if you’d like.

Step 1. Start with your base makeup

2.) Apply the shade Scintillate (maroon blue duochrome) from the Musée Beauty Impressionism Palette to your eyelids for the perfect all over lid color. You can fill in your brows at this point too!

Step 2. Apply an all-over lid color to add some shading to the eyes

3.) Create the illusion of creepy doll eyes by using a white eyeliner to create a thin semicircle underneath your eyes. Add spidery bottom lashes to the bottom edges of the white liner using a black liquid eyeliner with a fine tip. Apply copious amounts of mascara to your upper lashes. You can even use your black liquid eyeliner to create the illusion of more eyelashes on your top lash line.

Step 3. Crafting the creepy doll eyes

4.) Add a generous amount of pink blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend the blush upwards into your cheekbones for a vivid draped blush effect. We like using cream blush for this step because of the high pigmentation and ease of blending.

Step 4. Blush, blush, blush!

5.) Using the shade Renoir (true red) of Lip Sketch, line your lips and then fill them in completely. Top with a gloss like Lip Glaze in the shade Cassatt (color shifting perfect pink). Applying a shiny gloss to the center of your lips gives the illusion of poutier, fuller lips.

Step 5. Lip liner and gloss to complete the lips

6.) Finally, use your black liquid liner to create the iconic marionette mouth. Draw out small horizontal lines from the corner of your lips, then draw long vertical lines down your chin. If you mess up, let the liquid liner dry and then use a cotton swab and makeup remover to erase your mistake! Dry with a tissue and try again. You can also add some cool toned bronzer underneath the apples of your cheeks in a semicircle to create a perfectly plump cheek effect.
